After a diligent review of the ad materials in question, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has decided to discontinue its partnership with McCann Worldgroup Philippines.

In the midst of this controversy, the DOT expects a public apology from McCann over the negative feedback that the department has been receiving, owing to the glaring similarities between McCann’s “sights” ad and South Africa’s ad released in 2014.

Tourism Ministers of Costa Rica and Cameroon join the growing list of top level officials to come together at the 6th United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) International Conference on Tourism Statistics slated from June 21 to 23.

Costa Rica’s Minister Mauricio Ventura Aragon and Cameroon’s Minister Bello Bouba Maigari will be joining the earlier confirmed counterparts, to wit: Sri Lanka’s Minister John Amaratunga, Fiji’s Minister Faiyaz Koya, Zimbabwe’s Minister Walter Mzembi, Thailand’s Minister Kobarn Wattanavrangkul and Seychelle’s Minister Anne Lafortune.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is optimistic that the upward growth of the country’s international tourist arrivals registered at 11.40 percent for the first quarter of 2017, will likely continue throughout the year as it anticipates over Php600-billion investments in infrastructure alongside aggressive marketing efforts, and with the heightened security all over the country.

Seoul, South Korea -- The Philippine tourism sector is confident it will retain Korea as no. 1 visitor market, as the country’s delegation to the Korea World Travel Fair (KOTFA) in Seoul, showed high resolve to forge a stronger bond with Koreans.

In addition to the crowd-drawing stage presentations and exhibit set up by the Philippine Department of Tourism-Korea office and DOT-attached agency Tourism Promotions Board, tourism officials held “fact-finding” meetings with Korean travel executives and Seoul-based media, amidst security issues confronting international tourism.

On behalf of the international tourism community, UNWTO conveys its heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families and friends of the victims and to the Filipino people.

Manila, Philippines -- United Nations World Tourism Organization International (UNWTO) Secretary-General Taleb D. Rifai has confirmed his participation at the 6th United Nations World Tourism Organization International (UNWTO) Conference on Tourism Statistics happening in Manila from June 21 to 23.

According to Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo, Secretary-General Rifai and the Tourism Ministers’ visit to the Philippines concurred with her confidence on the safety and security of tourist coming to the country.

Secretary-General Taleb Rifai of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) said all the world’s people must go visit the Philippines at one time or another.

"You haven’t lived if you have not experienced the Philippines," Rifai told the delegates at the opening ceremony of the 6th UNWTO International Conference on Tourism Statistics today at the New Port Performing Arts Theatre of the Resorts World Manila.
